Yesterday went awful. I never had time to make my storyboard, and no matter what I said to try to compensate, I knew it wouldn’t make a difference, and it didn’t. Friday morning I knew that my whole presentation would flop if I didn’t have a freaking storyboard, and at 11:59 am I knew that [...]

pressure
So I still feel like I haven’t done anything for this project. I worked until 4am but I think I should have kept going. Now I’m afraid that I won’t finish. Just thinking about everything else I have to do, along with the stuff that’s due today, I can’t really start on studio until after [...]

problem-solver
Okay so my dad and I built a little door/cabinet thing so now I can start on my project. Right now I’m gluing two pieces of oak wood together. Hopefully I’m compressing it enough so that I won’t have to fill in any gaps because I would really like for the wood to show and [...]

the key handle: conceptual
So here is what I have so far:
Initial concepts
Some handle ideas
Refinements and directions
Too much feature creep?
Planning on doing some study models, but finding it hard to find scraps to work from.
What do you think so far?

word to the wise:
Don’t wait until you think you’re in “ID” mode to start working on assignments that are due the next morning.
And don’t let your friends convince you to go out with them when you know it’ll totally wreck your night and the next day set for sketching. They just don’t get it. Not good.
Don’t, just don’t.

A great little insight:
LIVING ON WHAT I LEARNED AFTER 65
Mary Lou Fuller
LIFE IS A SERIES OF BEGINNINGS AND ENDINGS. In the blink of an eye we go from the terrible two’s to Medicare. A friend in her 80’s spoke about looking back on her life. She summed it up with this advice: “One must [...]

i’m ready to swim now
So I’ve been really busy the last few days, but I did want to update on some things. I’ve realized that this little side job I took has taught me way more than I even knew it could, and I’ve only met with this company for two days. I’ll try to explain.
What I’ve taken the [...]

freelance
I just (sort of) accepted my first “freelance” job today. I’m meeting the company tomorrow morning before studio. They want sketches and design ideas from me. I’m really nervous. I’ve never done anything like this before and I’m not sure what I should do, what I should say, what I should bring. Do I carry [...]

conflict
So I’m still excited for this project, but in a different way now.. I think. More on that later.
What does it mean to be a designer?
Right now I’m not sure what or who the “designer in me” really is. I have conflicting styles. Part of me likes sleek, clean, symmetrical, minimalist designs. Part of me [...]

arthritis
Arthritis (from Greek arthro-, joint + -itis, inflammation; plural: arthritides) is a group of conditions involving damage to the joints of the body. Arthritis is the leading cause of disability in people older than fifty-five years.
There are different forms of arthritis; each has a different cause. The most common form of arthritis, osteoarthritis (degenerative joint [...]
